Singer/Songwriter’s Willie Nile’s 1980 debut album is an excellent example of american roots rock at it’s finest.  Chiming guitars, pulsing rhythms and straight-forward vocals lend a stark contrast to the synth and punk rock that was so popular at the time of release.  A basic rock and roll record, this is an easy listen and is easily given four out of five pluses.  The first song, “Vagabond Moon,” is easily the best song on the album and one of my favorite songs of the 1980’s.
